Join New York City’s Mount Holyoke community in celebrating the birth month of Mary Lyon at this special FebruMary event! Hosted for young alumni, by young alumni, this evening of rock climbing bouldering is offered at cost to graduating classes 2010 – 2017, but MoHos of all class years are welcome to enjoy the sweet perks of the night at Member and Non-Member ticket prices.

As it gets colder, why not reunite for a social reading over winter drinks? Please join us for a discussion of MHC’s Common Read for 2017 – 'Citizen: An American Lyric' by Claudia Rankine.

“Rankine brilliantly pushes poetry’s forms to disarm readers and circumvent our carefully constructed defense mechanisms against the hint of possibly being racist ourselves,” noted a New York Times review.

'Citizen' was the first book to ever compete in both the Poetry and Criticism categories of the National Book Critics Circle Awards. It was the 2014 Winner in Poetry and a Finalist in Criticism. The book has also won a number of other prizes and awards, including the 2015 PEN Center USA Poetry Award and the 2016 Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt Book Prize for Poetry.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Claudia Rankine received her BA from Williams College and her MFA from Columbia University. Rankine is a Frederick Iseman Professor of Poetry at Yale University and a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.

Body confidence class and private talk @ New Leaf Yoga & Pilates

Enjoy a movement class focused on body confidence at New Leaf Yoga & Pilates in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Join the Mount Holyoke Club of New York City and teachers Jen Sydor and Nadia Wallace '88 in this private retreat. The class will use Pilates, breathing techniques, facia release, and somatic exercises in a one-hour mat class, to de-stress, center, fire up our deepest muscles, and connect body and mind. Accessible for all levels of fitness and experience. After the class, we'll have a unique chance to discuss as a group how we can bring the experiences of the class into our daily lives and enjoy food and refreshments in New Leaf's serene and airy, newly renovated space.

More about the teachers:

Jennifer Sydor is a dance performing artist and a member of the Metropolitan Opera of New York corps. Jen is pursuing her MFA in dance and choreography at the University of Wisconsin, and received her certification to teach Pilates through the Kane School of Core Integration. Jen teaches group classes in Pilates at New Leaf.

Nadia Wallace '88, is the founder of New Leaf Yoga & Pilates. Before receiving her Pilates teacher certification from the Kane School of Core Integration, Nadia was a trial attorney with Jenner & Block and the Corporation Counsel of the City of NY. At Mount Holyoke, Nadia was a member of the field hockey team, and she played rugby and danced. She was a competitive downhill ski racer through high school. Nadia teaches one-on-one private sessions using Pilates equipment, and group classes at New Leaf.

Join members of the College community to celebrate gay pride side by side in NYC. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends are invited to represent Mount Holyoke College at the New York City Pride March.

Here’s a chance to reunite with your MHC friends and classmates for a summer weekend getaway in the city that never sleeps on the most colorful weekend of the year. Year after year, friends of MHC cheer along the sidewalks of Manhattan. Now we can celebrate as we make our way down 5th Avenue to the historic West Village with true MHC Lyon’s pride.
